En la edición de Yokohama del concurso de la foto del año, la foto ganadora fue la de Joao Silva sentado en el suelo al lado de la cinta de llegada y lo hizo con más del 36 por ciento de los votos. La imagen ilustra a la perfección el triunfo del debut de Silva en la Serie de Campeonatos Mundiales y el calor intenso que debió superar para conseguirlo.

En segundo lugar hubo un empate entre dos fotos que solo obtuvieron el 18 por ciento ; Emma Moffatt refrescándose antes de la carrera y una toma espectacular de la carrera femenina que muestra las sombras de las damas sobre el camino. La foto fue reconocida fuera del ámbito del triatlón y fue catalogada como una de las 50 mejores imágenes deportivas de 2011 .

Los fanáticos ya han decidido, y ahora es el turno de saber qué opina el hombre detrás de la lente: Delly Carr. Sus imágenes espectaculares de los últimos 20 años lo han convertido en uno de los mejores del ramo. Esta es su elección:
