World Triathlon

ITU star Vanessa Fernandes has been tearing up the competition in the past few years and ripping through the triathlon record books at the same time.  It appears the rest of the world is starting to take notice too, receiving recognition from Sports Illustrated and being featured on Nike.com.

Fernandes appeared in Sports Illustrateds year-end double issue that featured Woman Athletes of the Year.  Only 24 of the worlds top women in sports were featured and Fernandes was alongside global superstars such as Justine Henin (tennis) and Lorena Ochoa (golf).  The 12-page feature appeared in the December 31, 2007-January 7, 2008 issue.

The Nike Campaign
Fernandes is also featured on Nikes Here I am: Celebrate the Athlete Inside campaign.  A video profile on Fernandes is on the site to view.  It shows her training near her home in Portugal and she talks about how she got started in triathlon, along with stories from her early races.  Fernandes is one of only eight women featured on the Nike site with video profiles.

La estrella de la ITU Vanessa Fernandes ha estado arrasando en la competicin los ltimos aos y haciendo historia en los libros de los record al mismo tiempo. Parece que el resto del mundo empieza hacerse eco tambin, recibiendo el reconocimiento de Sports Illustrated y siendo destacada en Nik.com.

Fernandes apareci en la doble publicacin de fin de ao de Sports Illustrated que destacaba a las mejores atetas Femeninas del ao. Se destacaron a tan slo 24 mujeres de la cima mundial y Fernandes estaba junto a superestrellas como Justine Henin (tenis) y Lorena Ochoa (golf). Las pginas destacadas aparecen en la publicacin del 31 de diciembre 2007- 7 de enero 2008.

Fernandes tambin destacada en la campaa de Nike Aqu soy yo: Conoce el interior de la Atleta. Un vdeo sobre el perfil de Fernandes esta en la pgina Web. Nos muestra su entrenamiento cerca de su casa en Portugal y habla de cmo se inici en el triatln, junto con historias de sus primeras carreras. Fernandes es una de las ocho mujeres destacadas en la Web de Nik con un vdeo sobre su perfil.
