France controls home Triathlon WSC in Versailles

The 2015 Versailles ISF Triathlon World School Championships hosted in Versailles, France occurred over the weekend of May 30-31. With two age groups competing in two categories (1997-1998, 1999-2000) 200 triathletes from 14 countries were represented among school and select divisions. This marks the second time triathlon has participated in the championships, with triathlon having taken place in Puerto Rico in 2013.


ISF Team Results

The Mixed Relay races were a bit hit at the School Championships, with several teams participating and enjoying the woman-man-woman-man event. France claimed the gold medal in the selected division for the mixed team relay in the 15-16 age group race. The team consisting of Meline, Paul, Agathe and Arthur finished in a time of 1:27:50 to earn the home win. While on the school side for the same age group, it was Germany’s team of Tanja, Peter, Theresa and Fabian finished in a time of 1:32:02 to claim the honour.

In the older age group race, 17-18 year olds, it was France who won on both the school and selected divisions. The gold medallists on the school side were from the team School France Darras Lievin consisting of competitors Cassandre, Mathieu, Constance and Steve who all together finished with the winning time of 1:27:05. The foursome of Lena, Alexis, Ilona and Benoit brought the victory to their home country on the selected side by finishing the competition in 1:29:19.

Individual Results

In the 15-16 year old age group for women, France’s own Juliette Mahe represented the school division by earning gold with a time of 43:26. While on the selected side it was Agathe Thibert (FRA) who also walked away with a home win, finishing in a time of 42:13. For the 17-18 age group triathletes, it was yet again France who took the school division. Constance Minet had the first-place finish with a time of 1:04:30. It was Chile however that took gold for the selected as Catalina Salazar won with a time of 1:05:42.

On the men’s side in the younger age group, Germany’s Fabian Kraft took the individual school division with a time of 37:15. In the selected division Arthur Berland of France finished in 36:34 to take first. For the older 17-18 age group race, France won the school division with individual Steve Vintaer tallied the win for his time of 57:42. The last individual gold went to Chile’s Javier Martin for the selected with his time of 57:01.
