Historical results record building on World Triathlon legacy

This year there has been major development to collect historical World Triathlon data and manually work through the archives of results, some of which are handwritten or marked on fax paper, to verify and update the official results online.

This database of reported results, available on Triathlon.org, includes historical World Triathlon Championships result, with all categories listed.

World Triathlon Sports Results Director Enrique Quesada and the Sports team have been working diligently on this research task, validating the World Triathlon data and recording the historical results on the website.

In addition to the efforts of Enrique Quesada and his team of specialists to compile all of the relevant material and information, World Triathlon would like to extend appreciation to the wider community, who have contributed to this legacy project.

Stakeholders have provided the World Triathlon team with personal records, clippings, images and tear sheets, which contributed to the success of this project.

The results pay tribute to many triathletes, who have participated in 20+ World Championship races and won multiple age-group medals.

World Triathlon will continue to progress this legacy project across other disciplines of the sport, including the Multisport World Championships records, to reflect across the online results and recognise the triathlon achievements of many athletes over time.

The World Triathlon team will connect with the legends of World Triathlon and work closely with National Federations to share the features via various communication channels.

We encourage the World Triathlon community to continue to share further insights on historical records and information with the Sports Results team.

Congratulations again to the Sports Results team for their outstanding efforts across this project in 2020.
