World Triathlon

ITU is delighted to announce that the 2013 ITU Development World U23 & Junior Camp will be held from 1st to 9th September in Rio Maior, Portugal. 

A squad of athletes and a group of mentor coaches primarily from emerging and developing national federations will be selected to participate in the camp under the guidance of an outstanding coaching staff.

Please refer to the attached document for further details as well as the application forms for the athletes and for the mentor coaches who wish to attend.

ITU will be accepting applications through until MONDAY 15th July 2013 after which the final group of athletes and mentor coaches will be selected.  The final list of accepted participants will be made available no later than 20th July 2013 and all National Federations will be informed via email.

COSTS:
All costs including accommodation, meals and ground transportation will be covered by ITU.

TRAVEL:
As the camp venue is different than the venue of the World Championships. The flight tickets have to be booked through Lisbon on the way to London as follows:
Arrival to Portugal (Lisbon) on 31st August or on 1st of September, departure date for the entire camp participants has to be on the 9th of September. Upon arrival in London athletes must join their National Team.   

SELECTION OF ATHLETES:
National Federations must take note of the following:
• Athletes must be between 16 - 23 years (Competing in the Junior or U23 category at the 2013 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in London).
• Athletes must be selected based on Continental Championship and National Championship results.
• If an NF nominates more than one athlete, the names need to be submitted in priority order.
• From an emerging/developing National Federations*
• Athletes must be selected to follow the camp program, and must present his individual training plan in case the intention is to follow it.
• A selection committee will select the final candidates invited to attend the camp in Portugal.
• Closing date for application MONDAY 15th July 2013

NOMINATION OF MENTOR COACHES:
National Federations are invited to nominate a coach to attend and participate in the camp in a mentoring role. The NF coaches will also participate in a coach mentoring program which will run parallel to the camp activities.

    Please note the following:
• Nominated coaches should be actively working with national federation athletes.
• Nominated coaches must be prepared to form part of the coaching staff for the camp.
• ITU will cover all costs of accommodation, meals and ground transport of all of the coaches selected to participate.
• It is recommended that the indicated coach by the NF will be part of the NF coaching staff at the 2013 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in London.
• Closing date for application MONDAY 15th July 2013
