A new year is upon us. With that new year brings new beginnings and new goals. It’s a chance to put the past behind you and zoom into the future with renewed vigor. While you contemplate your resolutions, check out the aspirations these ITU athletes have for themselves in 2013.

Emma Moffatt (AUS)
“My New Year’s resolutions are to work on my cornering, move into my house, race well and be HAPPY! I’d like to have a few podium finishes in the ITU World Triathlon Series this year, but also maybe conquer a 70.3. I am looking forward to 2013 starting and putting 2012 behind me. Also my best friend’s wedding!”

Crisanto Grajales (MEX)
“My resolutions are to train closely with my coach, prepare myself to be the best, to do my best in every competition and be on the podium in every competition. My race goals are to compete in more than 80% of the ITU World Triathlon Series competitions, to obtain medals in the Panamerican Games and to be healthy and happy in order to qualify for the Olympic Games again in the next quad. I also hope to have a very productive year and enjoy every competition, while having good relationships with everybody around me.”

Kyle Jones (CAN)
“In 2013 I look forward to working my way closer to a WTS podium, while continuing to climb the overall rankings. I’m most looking forward to tackling the new Kitzbuhel course!”

Daniel Ryf (SUI)
“I don’t have any New Year´s resolutions, but my training and race goals are to get as fit as possible. In 2013, I’m looking forward to spending the winter in Switzerland.”

Gwen Jorgensen (USA)
“I want to update my blog more often - maybe even challenge myself to 20 blog posts in 20 days? My training and race goals are to drop my boyfriend on the bike and I’m excited about living in different countries like Australia and Spain.”

Dan Wilson (AUS)
“I want to stop judging people who need a calendar landmark to make a positive change in their lives. My goals are to stay healthy, train well (while being healthy) and race fast (and healthily). I am looking forward to success, fame and fortune. If not any of these, hopefully just continuing to have fun!”

Sarah Groff (USA)
“My New Year’s resolution is to improve my packing skills. I always manage to forget things, despite being a habitual overpacker! My racing goal is to channel my inner Brownlee-Gomez a bit more this year. This year, I’m most looking forward to making some changes in how I approach my training; hopefully they’ll pay off in the races!

Aileen Reid (IRE)
“I don’t make any New Year’s resolutions. I’ve joined a new training group though, so I may be doing things differently this year. I’m looking forward to everything in 2013! It’s all change, new group, good weather, new coach!”

Rodrigo Gonzalez López (MEX)
“On December 31st, I run the famous San Silvestre 10km race in the morning and in the evening again with my family to welcome the year to come. This year, I want to improve my triathlon performances, as I do every year, but I also want to keep up the good work at school in order to graduate in a couple of years. My training goals are to improve my 1500m time in the pool, as well as my 5km time on the track, and my general performance during races.I am looking forward to beginning the triathlon season and racing again at world cups and WTS events, as well as in the French Grand Prix. In terms of competitions there are many I’m looking forward to, but the Tiszaújváros World Cup is definitely in my ‘favourites list’, as well as those in Mexico and Spain.”
