ITU confirms the partnership with American Triathlon Confederation

ITU is pleased to announce it has signed the Development Grant contract for 2017 with the American Triathlon Confederation (CAMTRI). The budget will be invested in strategic development goals including athlete and coach development,technical and event development as well as increasing the participation of women in the sport.

“CAMTRI’s plan will provide a positive contribution to the sport through a variety of initiatives and it’s great to give them the support to keep on developing our fantastic sport,” said ITU President and IOC Member, Marisol Casado. “The plan is heavily focused on developing talent in athletes and coaches alike, which shows how connected CAMTRI President Liber Garcia is with the development necessities in Americas areas.”

Garcia said, “The signing of the Development Grant contract is an enormous step forward for us as we seek to build the sport of Triathlon in Americas. We have worked very hard in the development of triathlon and this has been recognised by the ITU as they assist us on our sporting journey. Our plan is focused on creating talent in athletes and coaches as well as highlighting gender balance and supporting women in sport. I would like to once again extend my deepest gratitude to ITU for the continued support and faith in our work and I look forward to seeing our new athletes race in 2018.”

With the funds provided bi ITU, CAMTRI will organise Level 1 and 2 Technical Official Seminars in different countries of America, as well as e-learning coaching programmes in Mexico, Bolivia and Trinidad and Tobago. CAMTRI will also put in place Youth, Junior and U23 development camps to identify the young talents of the future.
