ITU confirms the partnership with Oceania Triathlon Union

ITU is pleased to announce it has signed the Development Grant contract with the Oceania Triathlon Union (OTU).

The budget will be invested in strategic development goals including athlete and coach development as well as technical and event development, and increasing the participation of women in the sport.

“OTU’s plan will provide a positive contribution to the sport through a variety of initiatives and it’s great to give them the support to keep on developing our fantastic sport,” said ITU President and IOC Member, Marisol Casado. “The plan is heavily focused on developing talent in athletes and coaches alike, which shows how connected OTU President Peter Hedge is with the development necessities of Oceania areas.”

Hedge said, “The signing of this Development Grant contract is a major step forward for us as we seek to consolidate the work of our Development Committee. The hours spent by our dedicated team has resulted in significant support being offered by ITU. Our plan is focused on fostering the growth of National Federations and creating talent in athletes and coaches. I have carefully listened to the “wish list” from our Federations and feel that the way forward, as presented by the Development Committee, is the right one for us here in the Oceania area. I would like to once again extend my deepest gratitude to ITU for the continued support and faith in our work and I look forward to seeing our new athletes race in 2018.”
