The International Triathlon Union has announced its Registered Testing Pool (RTP) for the first quarter of 2009 (January 1 – March 31st, 2009). The athletes who are ranked in the top-50 of the world rankings are in the RTP. This list will be revisited for each quarter of the year. Please click here for the list of athletes. The athletes who are in the ITU RTP have a number of responsibilities with regards to the ITU Anti-doping Rules, WADA Code and International Standards.
Athletes who are not in the ITU RTP are still subject to out-of-competition testing. Many of these athletes will be in their National RTP.
Athletes in the ITU RTP must:
1. For each day during the forthcoming quarter (including weekends), they must provide ITU with one specific location and one specific 60-minute timeslot between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. when they will be available for testing at that location.
2. For each day during the forthcoming quarter (including weekends), they must give ITU the full address of the place where they will be residing, i.e., staying overnight (e.g., home, hotel, temporary lodging).
3. They must give ITU the name and address of any place where they will be training, working, or conducting any other regular activity during the relevant quarter (including weekends), as well as the usual time-frames for such regular activities.
4. They must tell ITU their competition schedule for the following quarter, including the date(s), time(s) and venues (name and address) where they are scheduled to compete during the quarter. Again, if this changes, they must update their whereabouts filing to reflect the change.
