Melody Ramírez (MEX) won in Colombia

23 elite women and 41 elite men participate in the San Andres Triathlon, second 2007 Continental Cup with points for the Pan American Ranking.

The start of the women race was at 6:45 in the morning with a swimming leg of two laps of 750 meters. In the first group that came out the water were: Sandra Soldán (BRA-21:30), Lorena Pontones (MEX), Alia Cardinale (CRC), Rubí Murillo (COL), Rosemary López (VEN) and Fiorella D’Croz (COL). One minute after were the Mexicans: Melody Ramírez, Dunia Gómez and Fabiola Corona ready to bike the 40 kilometers in eight laps.

Later in the bike there were only three athletes in the front of the race: Sandra Soldán, Rosemary López and Fiorella D’Croz, and there were also three cyclists in the second group: Melody Ramírez, Dunia Gómez and Fabiola Corona who began to run about 90 seconds behind in a 2.5 kilometers circuit.

In the third lap Melody Ramírez finally reached Rosemary López, while Fabiola Corona reached Fiorella D’Croz for a final podium: 1-Melody Ramírez (MEX-02:12:18), 2-Rosemary López (VEN-02:12:42) and 3-Fabiola Corona (MEX-02:13:03). After that arrived the Mexican girls: 6-Dunia Gómez (02:14:46) and 12-Lorena Pontones (02:23:50).

The men’s race began at 9:15 in the morning with a temperature of 82º F and a light wind. The first to finish the swimming were: Paulo Miyashiro (BRA-19:06), Francisco Godoy (ESP), Leonardo Saucedo (MEX), José Luis Zepeda (MEX), Leonardo Chacón (CRC), Leandro Lobo (VEN) and Isaac López (ESP), who began to ride with more than a minute of advantage.

For the running leg the leaders were almost two minutes before the chase pack and only José Luis Zepeda began to go to the back. In the third lap Paulo Miyashiro attacked and broke the group and he finished first in the podium: 1-Paulo Miyashiro (BRA-01:55:22), 2-Leonardo Saucedo (MEX-01:55:29) y 3-Isaac López (ESP-01:55:37). A little bit later arrived more Mexicans: 5-Eligio Cervantes (01:56:06), 6-José Luis Zepeda (01:56:54) and 20-Crisanto Grajales (02:03:42).
