The International Triathlon Union, invites suitable applicants to apply for the new position of Director of Marketing and Promotion of the ITU.

POSITION: Director, Marketing and Promotion

  EMPLOYEE: New Position. Full time.

  SUPERVISOR: Executive Director

  LOCATION: Vancouver, Canada

  DATE: September 2007

 

  GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Under the direction and guidance of the Executive Director, and in collaboration
  with the Directors of Events, Media and Television, and Sport Development, the
  Director of Marketing & Promotion will be responsible for the creation and
  implementation of a strategic marketing, sponsorship, promotions, communications
  and public relations plan for the International Triathlon Union.

 

  SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Develop and implement innovative Marketing strategies for ITU.

  Develop Brand strategy for ITU to nurture the relationship with global
  sponsors and other stakeholders

  Acquire new global sponsors for ITU as well as specific sponsors in
  key market areas.

  Develop strategies to ensure the marketing and sponsorship goals within
  ITUs four year strategic plan are met.

  Recruit and direct a team to expand and further develop the various
  multi-sports within ITU

 

  ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  A global understanding of international sport marketing

  Minimum of 10 years experience in a corporate environment with significant
  management experience and an excellent track record of project delivery.

  Passion for and extensive knowledge of Triathlon and the International
  Triathlon Union.

  Sound knowledge of business and strategic planning.

  Experience handing relations with international athletes, sponsors and
  governments.

  Excellent inter-personal skills

  Ability to manage, motivate and empower staff and volunteers

  Excellent, written, verbal communication and sales and presentation
  skills.

  Knowledge and experience in project management specific to expanding
  the sport of triathlon and its related multi-sports.

  Excellent organization and planning skills

  Ability to present information in an effective, relevant and timely
  manner

  An understanding of not-for-profit societies

  Ability to develop and manage budgets

  Practical hands on experience of managing sponsors at international
  events

  Educated to degree level with postgraduate qualifications considered
  favourable

  Language skills preferred
