Oceania President Terry Sheldrake recently reported at the Oceania triathlon Union’s Fiji based 2015 Regional annual Congress that significant progress had been made over the past year.

In the past 12 months, OTU have introduced their “Team Oceania” under the guidance of Australian triathlon based coach Peter Clifford, resulting in the first ever Oceania Continental Cup triathlon in Denerau Fiji.

In July, triathlon will be held at the South Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea, it is to be the first event of the Games and will be raced in front of thousands of spectators. Following the South Pacific Games, another Continental Cup will be held later in the year in Tahiti.

OTU’s Sport development program is far reaching and in the past year has included both coaching and technical programs.

Across Australia and NZ this year over 40,000 kids participated in the ever growing and popular Weet-Bix tryathlon series. The National Federations are enjoying continual growth in both participation and new events across the region as they prepare its elite athletes for the ultimate test at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games triathlon.
