Consejos de entrenamiento de los miércoles: esta semana Raymond Colliver

A los 81 años Raymond Colliver no tiene pensado aminorar. De hecho, sigue disfrutando de triunfos. Raymond, maratonista veterano y triatleta, nos invita a conocer cuál es su modo para seguir en forma y continuar ganando como lo hizo el año pasado en el Campeonato Mundial de Categoría por Edades de Londres.

Entreno los siete días de la semana, varío las disciplinas de acuerdo al horario y al clima. En invierno hago esquí y pedaleo en interiores, corro en pista, nado y entreno en fuerza. Básicamente, nado tres veces por semana, corro dos o tres y entreno en fuerza dos o tres veces también. Por mi edad (81) tomo precauciones y no me sobre exijo. Escucho a mi cuerpo, especialmente cuando corro en los caminos. No tengo problemas en nadar por una hora y media.

Correr a pie se está haciendo difícil, así que hago pausas en las que camino por 30 segundos o un minuto. Siempre tengo una bebida hidratante, las pausas me permiten consumir el líquido que necesito sin derramar. En las media maratones también llevo una barra de cereal y Gel. Creo que un atleta siempre debe recargarse al correr y pedalear. Solo hago media maratones ahora. He corrido 43 maratones desde 1982, pero los 10km son una distancia ideal para mí ahora.

Todavía compito en triatlón, más que nada distancia olímpica. ocasionalmente distancia sprint si mi calendario está completo de eventos semanales. Compito en el triatlón desde 1984. me motiva el esfuerzo, la emoción de probarme con triatletas de 70 años y más. Casi siempre gano mi categoría en cada evento en el que compito. Epero que esto continúe por muchos años.
