The Senegal Triathlon Federation (FSTri) is pleased to welcome you in the seaside resort of Saly Portudal. Saly Portudal, often referred to simply as Saly, is a popular seaside resort located on Senegal's Petite Côte, approximately 85 km south of Dakar. It is the largest tourist center in West Africa. Saly was originally a Portuguese trading post, nicknamed "Sali Portugal," a name that gradually evolved into Saly Portudal. The resort was built from scratch in the 1980s and opened in 1984 to coincide with the boom of tourism in Senegal. Saly is renowned for its fine sandy beaches lined with coconut palms and offers a wide variety of activities. You can enjoy windsurfing, kitesurfing, jet skiing, water skiing, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, tennis, horseback riding, etc. The city has numerous hotels, residences, restaurants, bars, a casino, and a craft village where you can find local products. Saly, one of the three cities hosting the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, will host both water and beach sports events at a single venue: Saly West Beach. These include beach sports such as beach wrestling, beach handball, and beach volleyball, as well as water sports such as sea rowing, sailing, and triathlon.
