World Titles were on the line in the Grand Final race in #WTSRotterdam. After no lead groups formed through the swim and bike legs, everything was left down to the run. A group containing Mario Mola (ESP), Javier Gomez Noya (ESP), Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR), Vincent Luis (FRA) and Jonathan Brownlee (GBR) bunched up running stride-for-stride. No one was giving up the pace and the final kilometre battle put the fans on their feet all cheering for their favourite superstar. In the final push, Luis kicked it in high gear and sprinted ahead to get the gold, with Blummenfelt just moments behind to grab silver. Bronze went to Mola, who with the position was enough to get the WTS World Champion Crown.

Women’s Top Showdown: Andrea Hewitt (NZL) and Jodie Stimpson (GBR) Blue Carpet Sprint in #WTSAbuDhabi

Andrea Hewitt wins in Abu Dhabi

The first women’s race of the season was a grand spectacle of talented elites ensuring that the season to come was going to be an exciting one. That was ever-so evident in the final minute of the race when Stimpson pulled ahead and looked like she was going to snag the first gold of the year. That was until Hewitt gunned it forward and on her toes, she sprinted ahead. The two women were neck-and-neck, but Hewitt beat out Stimpson right on the line, winning by fractions of a second. It truly was a showdown to watch and remember!
