The favourite images of the season by Wagner Araujo.
This is my fave image of the season and I call it "Human Torpedo". The intensity and the power of race starts always provide amazing images. Our challenge as photogs is to register different perspectives thru the years. It was shot in Montreal WTCS.
I love playing with light and shadows. When we have races on late afternoon I always try to take advantage of the beautiful complex light to create interesting compositions. Another one from the beautiful Montreal event.
We usually don't realise how many images are involved in a race start. In this image I tried to show all the work behind this important moment: Photogs, TV, Technical Officials, boats and safeguards. They're all focused on the athletes. This was the Women's Elite start in Abu Dhabi Grand Final.
The fourth discipline! Triathlon can be won or lost in transitions. It’s very important to show how complex and precise those moves are. Guess where? Montreal.
Big waves! To spice up some races we have those beautiful but challenging conditions. Another expertise our amazing athletes have to master and we have the pleasure to document it. Chilean world cup in Vinã del Mar was a blast for water shots.
Eagle's Eye! When scouting a course it is very important to look around for some opportunities to shoot unusual perspectives. Image taken in Vinã del Mar last November.
Diving deep. Alex Yee warming up in Abu Dhabi. Another unusual perspective with the cityscape in the background.
Shadows and highlights. Abu Dhabi had so many amazing shots. This is a complex image, with different layers of contrast among shadows and highlights, almost fine art photography.
The washing machine! So much power and intensity when we are able to capture the swim form above like we did in WTCS Bermuda!
We're slowly introducing drone coverage to our races following all safety protocols and local regulations. It introduces new possibilities for amazing work like we did in Abu Dhabi.
