Tambin texto en espaol.  ITU has confirmed its Sport Development calendar for 2007, mapping out a programme of events, specifically designed to raise triathlon coaching standards and support talented and up and coming athletes from around the world.  Working closely with their global partner BG Group, a calendar of dates has been confirmed for a series of coaching courses and development camps, as well as events and deadlines for the Team BG Elite Athlete Development Project and new BG scholarship awards.

The Sport Development programme was initially unveiled at the 2006 BG Triathlon World Championships as the major component of BG Groups partnership with the ITU.  Todays announcement brings ITUs Sport Development alive with a far reaching programme of activity to support developing and emerging national federations athletes and coaches in 2007. 

We at ITU are very excited to be able to offer these programmes to emerging triathlon nations as part of our sport development goals, stated ITU Sport Development Director, Libby Burrell. Thanks to our new global partner, BG Group, we are able to begin setting the foundations necessary to build our sport around the globe.

The new development plans support the ITUs long term objectives of strengthening its network of national federations whilst establishing new federations to broaden the sports geographical reach. The introduction of increased coach education and resources will support the growth of the sport at grass roots, helping to train new coaches, school teachers and local club organisers. 

Last year we made a commitment to support the development of triathlon and it is extremely exciting to see our shared vision with the ITU being put into action, stated Sarah Sizer, Head of Marketing, BG Group. The initiatives which are in place for 2007 will reach hundreds of talented young athletes and coaches across the world, who might not otherwise have had the opportunity or resources to succeed in triathlon.

About the programmes:
TEAM BG Elite Athlete Development Project (EADP)
Each year, there will be four designated BG Triathlon World Cup events with five places for women and five for the men.  Following a successful application by a national federation, chosen athletes will be able to attend the events with their national federation coach giving them vital experience at BG Triathlon World Cup level.

Continental Development Camps
Each year, there will be five eight-day camps in Africa, Asia, America, Oceania and Europe, as well as one world camp.  Up to 40 developing athletes aged between 15 and 23 will benefit from coaching from coaches who will be selected by the ITU and the relevant national federation. 

Coach Education and Resources
Novice and intermediate coaches will have the opportunity to take part in the ITU national level 1 course and gain accreditation from the ITU.  National federations which already operate their own coaching system will also be eligible to apply for accreditation once submission of their own course material has been approved by the ITU.  The coach resources will help increase the number of accredited coaches and ensure the quality of teaching is strengthened across the world.

La ITU ha confirmado su calendario de Desarrollo del Deporte para 2007, programando una serie de eventos, especialmente diseados para incrementar los estndares de entrenamiento y apoyar a las nuevas promesas del triatln del mundo entero. Trabajando conjuntamente con su patrocinador global, BG Group, se ha confirmado un calendario para una serie de cursos de entrenamiento y de campamentos de desarrollo, as como los acontecimientos y fechas lmite para el Proyecto de Desarrollo BG de Atletas Elite y las Becas BG.

El Programa de Desarrollo del Deporte fue inicialmente dado a conocer en Campeonato del Mundo BG de Triatln de 2006 como el mayor componente del acuerdo entre BG Group y la ITU. La noticia de hoy da vida al Desarrollo del Deporte de la ITU con un amplio programa de actividades para apoyar el desarrollo de los atletas y entrenadores emergentes a travs de sus federaciones nacionales en 2007.

Desde la ITU estamos muy contentos de poder ofrecer estos programas a las naciones emergentes del triatln como parte de nuestras metas del desarrollo., sealo Libby Burrell, Directora de Desarrollo del Deporte de la ITU. Gracias a nuestro nuevo patrocinador global, BG Group, tenemos a nuestra disposicin los fondos necesarios para construir nuestro deporte alrededor del mundo. 

Los nuevos planes apoyan los objetivos de la ITU a largo plazo para afianzar la red de federaciones nacionales actual al mismo tiempo que busca establecer nuevas federaciones para fomentar la expansin geogrfica del deporte. La introduccin de mayor nivel en la formacin de los entrenadores as como de ms medios apoyar el crecimiento del deporte de base, ayudando a entrenar nuevos entrenadores, profesores y organizadores de clubes locales. 

El ao pasado nos comprometimos a apoyar el desarrollo del triatln y es sumamente emocionante ver nuestra visin compartida con el ITU puesta en juego” declar Sarah Sizer, Directora de Marketing, de BG Group. “Las iniciativas par 2007 alcanzarn a cientos de jvenes talentos y entrenadores de todo el mundo, que de otra manera no podran haber tenido la oportunidad o recursos par tener xito en el triatln.”

Acerca de los programas:
TEAM BG Elite Athlete Development Project (EADP)
De forma anual, se designarn cuatro carreras de la Copa del Mundo BG de Triatln con cinco plazas para las mujeres y otras cinco para los hombres. Como consecuencia de la aceptacin de la solicitud realizada por parte de una federacin nacional, los atletas escogidos podrn participar en la carrera junto con su el entrenador de su federacin nacional lo que les aportar la necesaria experiencia a nivel de la Copa del Mundo BG de Triatln.

Continental Development Camps
De forma anual, se celebrarn 5 campamentos de 8 das de duracin cada uno en frica, Asia, Amrica, Oceana y Europa, as como un campamento global. Ms de 40 atletas en desarrollo de entre 15 y 23 aos se beneficiarn de entrenarse junto con entrenadores seleccionados por la ITU y la pertinente federacin nacional.

Coach Education and Resources
Los entrenadores principiantes e intermedios tendrn la oportunidad de formar parte del curso nacional de la ITU nivel 1 y obtener la acreditacin de la ITU. Las federaciones nacionales que ya dispongan de su propio sistema de entrenamiento podrn tambin solicitar la acreditacin una vez que la ITU haya aprobado el material de sus cursos. Los medios para los entrenadores ayudarn a incrementar el nmero de entrenadores acreditados y servir para asegurar que la calidad del profesorado se ve incrementada a nivel mundial.
