ITU was shocked this weekend by the sudden passing of one of their finest coaches and mentors, António Miguel Jourdan of Portugal. He was just 41 years old. António was one of ITU Development’s lead coaching facilitators and was tireless in his efforts to advance the level of coaching expertise globally along with the ITU Development Department.

ITU President Marisol Casado expressed her deep sorrow to the family in the loss of this wonderful man at such an early age.  “Our hearts go out Antonio’s family – we all share your grief.”

Perhaps António was best known as part of the esteemed Portuguese coaching team along with Sergio Santos that coached Vanessa Fernandes in her glory days.

“He was a coaching genius and a thorough gentleman” according to Libby Burrell, ITU Development Director.

He will be sorely missed by us all.

To the family and friends of António we offer our sincerest condolences.
