2011 Cross Triathlon World Champs date confirmed

The first ever ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships will be held on 30th April 2011 in Extremadura, Spain.

Weihai, China welcomes the long distance triathletes

The idea to organise the 2010 Weihai ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Series Eventgoes back to 2007. The former ITU president Les McDonald invited Eric Le Lostec race director of the 2007 Lorient ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships and 2008 Lorient BG Triathlon World Cup to take part in a seminar for the Beijing Olympic Games. The fact also helped a lot that the province of Shandong and that the region of Brittany, France have become twinned recently.

Since 2007, the project, having a long distance triathlon world series event in China, has been realised in close collaboration and partnership among the city of Weihai, the China Triathlon Sport Association (CTSA), the International Sport Events Consulting (ISEC) and the International Triathlon Union (ITU).

“On 25th September Weihai will host an O2 (3 km swim, 80 km bike, 20 km run) long distance triathlon event, emphasised by the Chinese history, tradition, and culture. The event agreement was signed with the presence of all relevant parties of the local organisation in mid-February in Weihai. The most of the technical aspects of the event were discussed and developed for a safe, fair and spectacular race. The spectators on site will be able to follow the whole competition from the start to the finish on a big screen next to the transition area and a 52 minute long television show will be produced after the race.“Eric Le Lostec, director, ISEC.
