World Triathlon

5 days to go to this worlds first ITU long distance triathlon, and TRAPs last race for the year. Here are updates.

The worlds top-ranked long distance triathletes, Petr Vabrousek (ITU World Ranked No. 1) and Ruth Vesler (ITU World Ranked 8th) will be competing in our race against some of Asias best.

TRAP secretariat will be at Seaview 2, Ground of Legenda Hotel, Waterfront Road, Subic Bay Freeport, starting 28 Nov (Tue).

The Race Briefing on 30 Nov will be followed by the Carbo Dinner (for O2 participants) at El Centro air-conditioned tent, located along Waterfront Road.

A bike mechanic will be available on 30 Nov near El Centro for minor check-up and adjustments.

Waves: 6:00am O2 Individual Men & Women / 6:15am O2 Relay / 7:00am Sprint. Start time may slightly change, subject to actual daylight conditions or other technical or safety reasons.

T1/T2 will include clothes changing tents. Separate for men and women.

The first Aid Station will be located near Naval Mag Gate (about 12km from T1, designated as AS-Bike). This will be complete with water, PowerBar Endurance, fruits, wheel drop, first aid, toilets, communications base, and deposit for the triathletes special needs (food, fuel, energy gel or bar, medicine, clothes, etc). The 2nd Aid Station will be located along Dewey Street along the run course (designated as AS-Run)

Triathletes special needs (fuel, gel, medicine, food, change of clothes) must be deposited at the Race Secretariat (c/o Fabie) on 30 Nov afternoon/evening at El Centro, before or after the Carbo Dinner. Plastic Speedo bags will be provided for this purpose. The triathlete must insert all items in the bag(s) and mark the bag(s) with his/her race number and at which Aid Station (AS-Run or AS-Bike) the aid bag will be located (example: 112 / AS-Bike) .

Spare wheel sets must also be deposited at El Centro on 30 Nov afternoon to evening. Mark the wheels with the race number and location of wheel drop Naval Magazine Gate or Waterfront Road (Example: 112 / WF or 93 / NM).

The after-race brunch/lunch (for Sprint and O2 participants) will be served starting 10am at El Centro. This will also be the venue for the Awarding Ceremonies.

Free 15-minute massage will be provided for the finishers by David Day Spa inside El Centro.

David Day Spa will offer body massage for only P300 for 1 hour or P150 for 30 minutes on 30 Nov (around 3pm to 8pm) and on 01 Dec (after the awarding) at El Centro or other convenient location. First come, first served.

The finish line will be located at the old location next to El Centro.

We expect 100 O2 triathletes and 70 Sprint Triathletes. Slots are still open. You can still register for the O2 Individual /O2 Club Competition , O2 Team Relay, or Sprint race. Register now!

Water will be warm. Perhaps around 25 degrees C. Wetsuits not needed and not allowed.

Cut off for the O2 race is a generous 8 hours. Race start at 6:00am. The run course will be closed and the recording of official results end at 2:30pm.

Reminder: This is a non-drafting race. 1st violation back off and verbal warning, 2nd violation 30-second stop, 3rd violation 30-second stop plus 5minutes in the penalty tent in T2.

TRAP Registration (Tri ID) for 2007 will be accepted at the Race Secretariat (c/o Kath) during the event. Fee for 2007 is P600 if paid within December 2006 or P700 if paid from January 2007 onwards.
