ITU Coaching Course in Africa

The ITU Competitive Triathlon Coaching Course scheduled for 19 – 24 April in Stellenbosch, South Africa has attracted 20 coaches from eight African nations (Tunisia, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa). These coaches will learn extensive triathlon knowledge taught by many top international coaches over the five day course.
The group of 20 coaches will converge on the beautiful university town known as much for it’s academics as it is for being a perfect training location for foreign athletes from around the globe in the balmy South African summers.
The coaches will be put through their paces by a star-studded teaching staff including Jamie Turner (Australia) who is better known as the coach of Erin Densham when she won the 2006 Under23 World Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland. Also on the teaching panel are the following well known coaches and academics: Elana Meyer; Dr. Carol Austin; Prof. Justus Potgieter; Prof. Liz Bressan; Dr. Karin Hugo; Dr. Elmarie Terblanche; and Pierre De Roubaix. Libby Burrell, Director of Sport Development will head the week long programme.

El Curso de Entrenamiento para la Competición en Triatlón de la ITU programado del 19 al 24 de Abril en Stellenbosch, Sudáfrica ha atraído a 20 entrenadores de 8 países africanos (Túnez, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Mauricio, Namibia, Zimbabwe y Sudáfrica). Dichos entrenadores adquirirán grandes conocimientos de triatlón impartidos por varios entrenadores de alto nivel durante el curso de 5 días.
El grupo de 20 entrenadores se reunirá en la preciosa ciudad universitaria conocida tanto por sus sus académicos como por ser un lugar idóneo para el entrenamiento de atletas extranjeros de todo el mundo en los suaves veranos sudafricanos.
Los entrenadores serán asesorados por un equipo de profesores que incluirá a Jaime Turner (Australia) que es más conocido por ser el entrenador de Erin Desham cuando ganó el Campeonato del Mundo Sub23 de 2006 en Lausanne, Suiza, También participarán otros conocidos entrenadores y académicos como Elana Meyer; Dra. Carol Austin; Prof. Justus Potgieter; Prof. Liz Bressan; Dr. Karin Hugo; Dr. Elmarie Terblanche; y Pierre De Roubaix.
