ITU President and IOC Member Marisol Casado will attend the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires. The week of activity will include the IOC Executive Board meeting and annual general meeting (Session) from 4 - 10 September.

From 7-10 September, the IOC Session will make decisions on Olympic policy, including the election of the 2020 Olympic Games host city, the election of the ninth IOC President and the possible inclusion of a new sport in the Olympic programme. As a voting member of the IOC, Casado will play an important part in these decisions.

“The IOC Session is a very important week in the Olympic Movement and it is very important the sport of triathlon is well represented at this time,” Casado said. “As a native of Madrid, I also proudly support Madrid’s bid to hold the 2020 Olympic Games. Madrid has a strong team and plan in place to host a successful Games.”

While in Buenos Aires, Casado along with ITU Secretary General Loreen Barnett, ITU AFL Director Antonio Arimany and ITU Vice President Antonio Alvarez will also meet with ITU’s South American National Federations to discuss the development of triathlon in their own countries and in the Americas.

Casado will also attend the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) council meeting, during which the council will deliberate on the common goals and interests of its member federations as it pertains to the Olympic Movement.
