The International Triathlon Union has announced a new organisational structure and now comes in operation.  The restructure is designed to enhance the overall performance for the future of triathlon and was one of the top discussions during the Tables Officers meeting in Beijing on 15-16 January.

The ITU Sport department continues to be led by Director Gergely Markus and will be based out of a new ITU office in Lausanne starting in April.  Zita Csovelyak (Senior Manager of Sport Administration), Thanos Nikopoulos (Senior Manager of Technical Operations), and Enrique Quesada (Senior Manager of Sport Results, operating from the President’s Office in Madrid) are responsible for each key function to retain ITU’s competition management. Continuing to support the team are assistants David Bonilla and Alpar Nagy.  The department will further strengthen a relationship with the IOC with its close proximity.

ITU Media and Television is now ITU Media, TV and Communications and integrates more strategic communications.  Leading each function are Morgan Inglis (Senior Manager of Television), Fergus Murray (Senior Manager of I.T. and Sport Presentation) and Paula Kim (Senior Manager of Communications), who returns to ITU after her original two-year stint from March 2007 to February 2009.  The trio will operate from ITU Headquarters in Vancouver.  Masa Takaya continues his role as Media Manager and Gareth Davies remains as Online Developer, overseeing all I.T. matters.

Former ITU Media and Television Director Brian Mahony will remain involved with ITU in his new role as Special Projects Manager and will continue to work out of ITU Headquarters in Vancouver.

ITU Sport Development has been re-named ITU Development and continues under the leadership of Director Libby Burrell.  Zita Csovelyak, who will be shared with the Sport department, has been appointed Manager of Governance and New NFs.

The Administration, Finance and Legal department is now led by Director Antonio Arimany, who will be based in Madrid. Also working out of Madrid will be Alfredo Sanchez, Executive Assistant to the President.  Senior Manager Adrienne Proseilo will continue to manage all payments and contracts, while working from ITU Headquarters.

ITU Anti-doping and the Marketing departments will maintain their structures and operations.  Paul Coleman continues to serve as Director of Marketing for ITU. Leslie Buchanan remains as Anti-doping Director, overseeing all testing, education, TUEs and other Anti-doping matters.
