29 countries assembled in Gotenborg, Sweden, 18-21 November for the ITU European Technical Officials and Event Organisers Seminar.
The City of Goteborg and the Swedish Triathlon Federation hosted one of biggest ever ITU Event Organisers and Technical Officials Seminar with close to 100 delegates from 29 countries, including special visitors from China, South Africa, and Qatar.
The two day seminar saw presentations from the ITU team of Executive Director, Loreen Barnett, Sheila OKelly, Head of ITU events, Gergely Markus, Head of Sport Development, Enrique Quesada, ITU Statistician.
The presentations covered all key areas of event production, event planning and operations, technical officials training, TV and media.
A special presentation on marketing and sponsorship was provided by Corinna Schmidt from Upsolut Event Marketing, the company that organises one of ITUs most successful and dynamic World Cup events in Hamburg, Germany.
The forum provided a wonderful opportunity for sharing experiences and ideas among organisers of Continental Cups, World Cups and major games (Asian Games and Beijing Olympics), which further cemented ITUs Building of Triathlon together initiative.

ITU is also grateful to the IOC for the funding assistance provided through the IOC Sports Department to certify competition managers and technical officials. This seminar was one of a series of worldwide sport development seminars that ITU is hosting during the off-season.
