The Hy-Vee ITU Triathlon World Cup is the richest and most lucrative event on the 2008 ITU calendar but it wasn’t the only race this past weekend with Continental Cup events in Japan and Germany.

On Saturday, a number of big names were prepping for Beijing at the Schliersee ITU Triathlon European Cup.  Anja Dittmer won the women’s field, posting an 11-second victory over Czech Radka Vodickova.  Dittmer’s run speed proved to be the difference.  Kathrin Müller, bronze medalist at last year’s German National Championships, rounded out the women’s podium.  Other notables in the women’s field, Czech Vendula Frintova and German Christiane Pilz, both failed to finish the race.  More than 50 women were on the start line in Schliersee.
