Ai Ueda, new member of the ITU Executive Board

The International Triathlon Union is pleased to announce that Japanese athlete Ai Ueda, member of the Athlete’s Committee, has been appointed member of the Executive Board as the second representative of the Athletes collective. ITU implements with this decision its support for increasing the female presence in the government body of the organization, giving also the Athletes more voice as well as more voting rights when it comes to approving decisions.

Following the decision taken by the Executive Board in 2019 of adding a second representative of the Athletes Committee in the Executive Board, Ueda was selected by her fellow Committee members as the new Board representative. She started her Board duties in January 2020.

Ueda is an active elite athlete, as is also the other Athlete representative in the Executive Board, Tamas Toth. Ueda, who has the record of the ITU athletes with more races on her legs -200 last year in Santo Domingo World Cup, will combine her presence in the Executive Board with her training and racing, while she is trying to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
