Pooley and Le Bellec repeat world titles

Cycling Olympic medallist Emma Pooley (GBR) and Gaël Le Bellec (FRA) won the 2015 ITU Powerman Long Distance Duathlon World Championships on on Sunday. Both athletes defended their titles from last year.

In the women’s race, Julia Viellehner from Germany, who celebrated her 30th birthday on race day, took second 11 minutes behine Pooley, while third went to Susanne Svendsen from Denmark another eight minutes after Viellehner. The bronze for Svendsen was the first time she stepped on the podium at the Long Distance Duathlon World Championships.

In the men’s race the Belgian Seppe Odeyn jumped on the podium for the first time with silver, clocking in four minutes behind Le Bellec at 6:24:59. Third in 2012 and last year for the third time, Søren Bystrup from Denmark again took third.
