Update on Valencia Paratriathlon and U23 European Championships

The Local Organising Committee of Valencia, together with the Spanish Federation, the European Triathlon Union (ETU), the Local Police, the City Council and the Marina of Valencia, considering the latest weather reports and the current situation, and with the aim to guaranteeing the maximum security of all participant athletes, has just taken the following decisions:

Paratriathlon European Championship
o The Paratriathlon European Championships will now take place at 3pm on Saturday, September 14. The time difference between the waves will remain the same as before.
o The official swimming training and familiarization scheduled for Friday, September 13, has been canceled
o All training in the Nazaret swimming pool is canceled, due to the pool closed after the heavy storms
o The race briefing will remain at the same time as planned, Friday at 16.30h

U23 European Championship
o The U23 Women’s European Triathlon Championship will be held over Sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run) and will start at 5.30 pm on Saturday, September 14
o The U23 Men’s European Triathlon Championship will be disputed over Sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run) and will start at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, September 14
o The official swimming training and familiarization scheduled for Friday, September 13, has been canceled
o All training in the Nazaret swimming pool is canceled, due to the pool closed after the heavy storms
o The race briefing will remain at the same time as planned, Friday at 18h

Mixed Relay
o The Mixed Relay race will start on Sunday at 13h instead of 13.30h

School Aquathlon
o The School Aquathlon is suspended

Open Races
o The Sprint Open competition that was going to take place on Saturday, September 14, is now postponed to Sunday, September 15 at 5:15 p.m.
o The Olympic Triathlon that was going to take place on Sunday 15 will have a cut off time of 4 hours (until 1 pm), from the start of the first wave.
o The Race packages pickup of all three Open races will be on Saturday afternoon from 17 to 20 hours.
o The briefing of the three Open races will take place on Saturday afternoon, at 7 pm for the Supersprint race; 7:30 pm for the Sprint and 8 pm for the Olympic.
o The Check-in for the Sunday morning races will be from 6.45 to 7.45 am.
o The Check-in for the Sunday afternoon races will be from 16 to 17 pm.

We sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience caused to all athletes, but the athlete’s security is our first priority. The Organizing Committee is working against the clock to ensure that the event is hosted with the greatest guarantees for all athletes. We will keep you all informed.
